Alyssa Jazs Alambra is a Filipino musician and music educator based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She pursued her music studies at Brandon University under many high calibre musicians and mentors such as Dr. Edward Bach and Michael Cain. After graduating, she began teaching band and other arts courses at the high school level in Neepawa, Manitoba. Since moving back to Winnipeg, she has been gaining more experience in the field of music education by teaching at the middle school level.
Aside from being a music educator, Alyssa is a performer in the Winnipeg music scene. She has been involved in a variety of musical settings around the city, performing different genres including R&B/soul, jazz, and hip-hop. She is currently a trumpeter in two big band ensembles in the city of Winnipeg: The East Side Jazz Band, and The Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra and the W2JO, where she serves as both a trumpet player and educator. She has also been a guest conductor for the Young Women in Jazz Ensemble, and will be a guest conductor for the upcoming Junior Honour Jazz Band in the TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival.
Alyssa is also part of an 8-piece band called NYOH - Not Your Ordinary Hooligans, where she is a vocalist and trumpeter. This group performs R&B, hip-hop, and jazz, and has performed in many settings across Winnipeg such as Soul Supreme, Nuit Blanche, The TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival, and Kultivation Festival.
